Mom of 3rd Culture Kids

My daily experiences, joys and challenges in motherhood and being a mom of 3rd culture kids…

Day Out

Because I’ve been feeling so worn out lately, I asked my Hubby if I could have a day out  this Saturday. I know he has also been very busy and a little bit stressed out lately, but I had to ask to keep my sanity and for the good of my children. I felt that I needed to be out for awhile and have a break or else I might breakdown..LOL!

My Day outs are just very simple, I normally go out with my girl have ice cream with her, go window shopping and go to a bookstore and browse on some books. Those activities are very relaxing for me.  It would be very ideal to go out alone by myself, but the problem is, I’m not used to go out alone anymore. It would feel too lonely and awkward for me to do so. Let me say, I haven’t been very independent anymore after getting married. :) And at least my Hubby will only have to take care of our li’l boy while we’re out. So, that’ll be less pressure for him. And being with my li’l girl will also add the fun. I will just make sure to let her do some reading activity or something to allow me to have some quiet times too.

Trying Times

It’s not always easy to be a Mom of 2 active kids. My girl is not that active anymore but she’s very talkative and always want to engage a conversation. My li’l boy is the physically active one, he will be running everywhere and touching everything! Put both of them together in one roof with an introvert Mom who takes care of them.. result? A burnt out Mom at the end of the day.

That’s how I am now. I feel so burnt out. My son’s change of sleeping habit doesn’t help at this time too. You see, he has been waking up at the middle of the night ( for three nights now) and with that spurt of renewed energy from a few hours sleep. He only sleeps back in after 2-3 hours of moving around the bed and sometimes walking and jumping up and down. Oh!!

I’ve always prayed for patience and been asking for the answer ” immediately!” Hahaha!! But I guess, this is the real test to patience. Oh, I still have a lot to learn as a Mom and as a child of God.

Mommy Break

Yesterday was another Mommy break for me with another group of friends. It was another splendid time spent with friends, chatting, laughing and being pampered. We started our day out with a buffet lunch in one of the Hotels in the city. They served varied choices of Thai, Japanese and western cuisine and a surprisingly  affordable price. Then, we went to the saloon for a hair cut and lastly went for a facial. It was my very first time to have a facial spa and I truly enjoyed it a lot.

So, that was our day of relaxing and pampering. I truly thank God for giving us a chance to have a great time. I’m not sure when I’ll have another Mommy Day out like this but I hope it’ll be soon! :)
