Mom of 3rd Culture Kids

My daily experiences, joys and challenges in motherhood and being a mom of 3rd culture kids…

Day Out

Because I’ve been feeling so worn out lately, I asked my Hubby if I could have a day out  this Saturday. I know he has also been very busy and a little bit stressed out lately, but I had to ask to keep my sanity and for the good of my children. I felt that I needed to be out for awhile and have a break or else I might breakdown..LOL!

My Day outs are just very simple, I normally go out with my girl have ice cream with her, go window shopping and go to a bookstore and browse on some books. Those activities are very relaxing for me.  It would be very ideal to go out alone by myself, but the problem is, I’m not used to go out alone anymore. It would feel too lonely and awkward for me to do so. Let me say, I haven’t been very independent anymore after getting married. :) And at least my Hubby will only have to take care of our li’l boy while we’re out. So, that’ll be less pressure for him. And being with my li’l girl will also add the fun. I will just make sure to let her do some reading activity or something to allow me to have some quiet times too.

Mommy Break

Yesterday was another Mommy break for me with another group of friends. It was another splendid time spent with friends, chatting, laughing and being pampered. We started our day out with a buffet lunch in one of the Hotels in the city. They served varied choices of Thai, Japanese and western cuisine and a surprisingly  affordable price. Then, we went to the saloon for a hair cut and lastly went for a facial. It was my very first time to have a facial spa and I truly enjoyed it a lot.

So, that was our day of relaxing and pampering. I truly thank God for giving us a chance to have a great time. I’m not sure when I’ll have another Mommy Day out like this but I hope it’ll be soon! :)

Tricia’s Corner

Finally, after months of thinking and planning to set up Tricia’s room, we’ve done it! It’s quite an accomplishment for me and Jesu especially when we don’t have much time ( and not to mention: budget..heehe) to spare to work on it.
So, came Thursday, when we didn’t have any classes at the Center, so Jesu started to paint her room pink (yes, as most girls, her favorite color is pink and specially requested to have a pink room). We managed to borrow a special roller brush too that makes star, moon patterns when you roll it. Months earlier, we already found some sale items like a small pink rug, piglet lamp, pink sheets and etc. We actually bought all these things slowly, like 1-2 items a month to suit our budget.hehehehe! The highlight of the things we bought was a cute pink dressing table which was 80% discounted sale at Carrefourre! I think it was originally 1,000 baht something, then lowered to 700 baht then finally for 200 plus baht. Oh, we how we had trouble hiding all these items coz we wanted her “finished” room to be a surprise for her.
So, today was the opening day for her room. Words couldn’t express the joy on our little girl’s face. Of course, the stage parents were also so happy to see such excitement. I realized how funny stage parents like us can be , because we deliberately planned everything ; the day and the timing (plus prepared all the documentation hahahah!) for such opening day.

Still have to put up a sign “Tricia’s Corner” as requested by the room owner.

The small pink room..

Her favorite part of the room…her dressing table.

ngdinalaga na si Ate Tricia!

So, after the ‘opening ceremony’. Our little girl thanked us so much and even prayed and thanked God for her new room
