Here’s a photo of my kids dressed as construction workers. This was actually taken at Kidzania Kuala Lumpur. Oh, my kids really had fun at Kidzania! Being construction workers was one of their ‘favorite’ jobs. They placed all the bricks one by one. It’s not real bricks through ( I think it’s made of wood) but they did learn a few things about construction since they had a little ‘talk’ before their work. I’m sure they didn’t delve into constuction details and how to use concrete blades , but at least they get to have an idea on how houses are built.

I will have to blog more about our Kidzania experience later. Oh, I have a lot of things to blog about this, but I just don’t know where to start.

Thai Classes for our Daughter

My daughter has lived most of her life here in Thailand, but admittedly, she’s not that fluent with her Thai. That’s the reason why we let her have a Thai tutor who comes here in our house twice a week. It would have been easier for her to learn Thai if she went to a Thai school but then, we prefer to homeschool her.

Currently, she’s enjoying her Thai classes and the teacher only has praises for her.I just hope that she can fluently speak the language in no time.

The Forgotten Coffee

We went out to the skate park today. We were there for about 2 hours. When we arrived back home, I opened the gate to let the car in but I smelled something burnt. I thought that our neighbor has cooked rice and burnt it. But on second thought, who doesn’t use rice cooker these days.

But the smell became stronger as I neared the house. Now, it seemed like burnt coffee! “Did youboil coffee before we left?”, I asked Hubby. But Hubby was already running to the kitchen. And yes, he did boil coffee and in fact, burnt it. But thank God that it after leaving the stove on for 2 hours, it didn’t burn anything. Our house was just filled with smoke but nothing else was burned except for the pot that turned black. Thank God!

Now, we just turned on our air purifier as the smell of smoke still fills the house. And this reminds me to buy a new filter for this air purifier as it has been 2 years since the filter has been changed. I wonder if beck arnley air filter ,can also be used instead.

My Awaited Scale

I’m excited! A friend of mine has bought a small scale for me. This is to be used for my baking endeavors. She just couldn’t believe that I ‘survived’ baking without using a scale. I told her my secret and that’s converting the weight in grams into cups by the use of Mr. Google Search. LOL! I’m looking forward to see my new scale, I’m not sure if it will look like those analytical balances that I see in the internet.

With the new scale, I can use my other recipe books with ease…

Is the House Hunt Over?

We’ve been looking for a new place to rent for a few months now. Well, not seriously though but we can’t help but be curious of the price and see the interiors of a house whenever we see a ’For Rent’ sign. Our desire to move out from this house was borne out from our kids who wanted to run around in a yard since our present house doesn’t have a yard.

A month back we saw this house with a big yard. Our kids love the big yard and we thought that the house looks neat. It was quite pricey for us but anyways, we asked the caretaker if we could take a look inside. The house looked nice from the outside but the interior is rather a bit worn out. We saw that there were still the old furniture left by the previous owner. My daughter was even fascinated by the dressing table that looked like a Horchow furniture. The house was really not that bad given we can repaint it and make a few improvements but I was a bit turned off by the fact that it doesn’t have a proper kitchen. It’s like the kitchen is a part of the living room and it’s very small. As a frustrated baker, I want to have a proper kitchen.

All in all we felt that the house isn’t worth the price. Maybe even if our ‘desired’ price is given to us, it won’t still be worth it. So as of now, we stay in our present house until such time where we have to move someplace else.

Kids Lunch Out

Last week, we went for ‘lunch out’ with kids who are studying at the center. It was actually their last day of the summer workshop, so we decided to do something fun for them. So, we took them for lunch at KFC at Siam Nakarin. The kids were so excited and happy to be in KFC and at the same time spend more time with their classmates.

My daughter and son also enjoyed that afternoon and as they said, they wish that the afternoon would not end. But it did and they sadly bid good bye to their Thai friends. Till the next summer workshop!

A Duet

My daughter and I are practicing to do a duet. Oh, we’re not actually singing anywhere, but we just like to master one of my daughter’s favorite song by Brit Nicole. During our practices, I play the acoustic guitar and be her back up singer. My daughter loves to sing. Even though there is still a lot of things that she needs to do to be in tune and to control her voice, but I think she will get there in no time, as she loves to sing. As for me, I still have to learn a whole lot of things in playing the guitar. But I know I will also improve as I practice everyday.

Body Transformations

I was amazed looking at some photos of people whose bodies were transformed from morbidly obese to fit. Many of them did it the natural way like diet and exercise, some had some gastric bypass and while others did other things from taking myoripped supplements to juice fasting.

While I was looking at the astonishing photos, I was wondering when I can also be a ‘success’ with my weight struggle. This actually leaves me a bit guilty now since I’m not doing much about it. Oh well…. maybe next time…

Inline Skating on Halt

My daughter has been learning inline skating for the past 2 weeks. But recently her ‘lessons’ has been on halt because of the rain or the fact that we’ve been quite busy the past days.

But still, my daughter has been very interested with skating that we’re thinking to buy her a pair of skates and maybe sparx helmets. Right now, she doesn’t have her own pair of skates and is just renting out from the skating place. But quite honestly, I’m not very comfortable with my daughter wearing the rented skates because they’re quite old and smelly. Yes , and sometimes I’m thankful for the rain or our busy-ness because this would keep her from renting those old skates. I guess I better seriously think of buying her a new pair huh?

Security in Hat Yai

If you haven’t heard it yet, there was a bomb explosion in Hat Yai this afternoon. We were just staying at the nearby hotel for a weekend conference and our friends were thinking of our group to go to Lee Gardens for Lunch. But thank God, minds changed and chose a different restaurant instead. There were so many “ifs’ and ‘what ifs’ on our minds after we heard the news and saw several ambulances passing us by. A few of our friends were also at Lee Gardens during the incident but we thank God that they’re safe.

Now, after this incident, one might ask, are we still secure here in Hat Yai? Will this still be a safe place to work and raise up our kids? As expats, we always have a choice to move out since this is not our homecountry. But then, we can not be made immobilized by fear. This alone can not be our main deciding factor whether to go or stay. This city has been bombed several times but we have been safe and unharmed. Our security is not based on a location but our security is based on God’s protection over our lives. And yes, we will continue to live here, though we can not be overly confident but still use our God given wisdom to stay safe and to be careful at all times.
