Mom of 3rd Culture Kids

My daily experiences, joys and challenges in motherhood and being a mom of 3rd culture kids…

Another Baby?

Many of my friends would ask me if we still want to have another baby. Both hubby and I come from a family of 4 children, and childhood was fun for us. I mean, of course there will always be quarrels, but that’s part of the entire happy family picture, right? So we are thinking if having two kids would be enough. For now I don’t seem to have the energy to take care of another baby or to go through the entire 9 months of pregnancy. But who knows 2 years after now? Maybe I’d get too nostalgic about having a baby I’d actually end up having another one. What about having twins? It’s like having two in one, right? Two kids in one pregnancy. Makes me wonder what it would be like to be pushing a bumbleride indie twin in a park?

Flood ‘Rumors’

We’ve just received an email from a friend. She told us of a ‘flood rumor’ here in the South. Yes, there has been rumors of flood circulating around the city for more than a week now. But this ‘rumor’ that she told us is a bit more frightening. I just hope and pray that it’s really just a .. rumor and there’s no truth in it. But, even if these are  unofficial ‘news’ but we have to take this as a warning and be prepared for the worst.

Oh, I can’t help but ‘fear’ of another flood. We’ve experienced being flooded twice already and I don’t want to experience another one. But things like this makes me realize that indeed all physical ‘wealth’ like Black diamond earrings or properties easily gets wash away and it’s LIFE that is more important. And situations like this also reminds us to continue to put our trust in the Lord as our refuge and our strength, therefore we share NOT fear. Amen!

The House Plan

For a couple of months now, my 7 year old daughter has ‘seriously’ been working on reaching her dream. First things first, what’s her dream? Whenever someone ask her this, one must be prepared for a long speech. Well, here’s her dream in a nutshell. When she grows up, she wants to build a children’s home. She said, that every morning she will drive around the city to look for street kids and bring them to her home, cook for them , play with them, and read them stories about Jesus.

We thought that this was just one of her passing dreams but then, almost everyday she thinks  about this. There are times that she  lists down the things that she needs at the home or the people she needs to work there. Today, she drew up the house plan. :) I think in the future she will get  good Project Manager Jobs . But kidding aside, I’m just glad that as early as now, my daughter has a heart for the people. It is my prayer that God will preserve this heart and indeed her dreams will come true according to the will of God.
